The Tapestry Lunch Club (TLC) will deliver homemade sandwiches and cakes to people’s doorsteps for the weekly parties which are based around a theme, quiz or activity and held using the online video conferencing site, Zoom.

The club is able to offer this service for free thanks to support from the National Lottery’s Coronavirus Community Fund.

Clare Jones, director of TLC, said: “Given the continued Covid lockdowns and social distancing – which frankly has made getting lunches going regularly a real challenge – we have developed another idea thanks to the very generous funding. We hope that older people in need of social support at this very difficult time will get in touch with us and join in the fun!”

TLC is able to rent small, easy-to-use tablets – designed for those who didn’t grow up with technology – so guests who don’t have their own devices can join.

Clare said: “Our tablets can also be used for video chat, sharing photos and staying in touch with your family and friends while we need to stay home and stay safe.”

In order for us to continue to provide high quality and trusted local news, I am asking you to please purchase a copy of our newspapers.

With the coronavirus lockdown having a major impact on many of our local valued advertisers - and consequently the advertising that we receive - we are more reliant than ever on you helping us to provide you with news and information by buying a copy of our newspapers.

Our journalists are highly trained and our content is independently regulated by IPSO to some of the most rigorous standards in the world. But being your eyes and ears comes at a price. So we need your support more than ever to buy our newspapers during this crisis.

Stay safe, and best wishes.
