Due to open to the public on August 7 - its 60th birthday – the railway has produced a reopening film featuring television actor and presenter Martin Clunes.

The short film focuses on the new Covid-19 safety measures in place and shows how a day at Bluebell Railway might look. It shows that a visit to the railway is safe and enjoyable.

Ruth Rowatt, Bluebell Railway marketing manager, said: “We wanted to create something similar to the British Transport Films of the 1950s.

“Something fun, but reassuring.

“We were so thrilled when Martin Clunes said he would help. He is a great actor and he brought just the right tone and style – seriously amusing! We can’t thank him enough.”

The video can be found on YouTube.

Bluebell Railway, like many heritage railways, is only able to reopen due to the amazing donations to its emergency fund.

However, now they need the support of the visitor to survive and continue steaming through the next 60 years.

Tickets are pre-booked only.
