Rachael Asling said: "The trouble Chi has is that the infrastucture just can't support the amount of people and cars currently here and soon to be more with the amount of new builds going up.

"Sadly the pop up lanes added considerable stress and time to a journey and I barely ever saw anyone using the cycle lanes. We need to make Chi more cycle friendly but taking away any roads that are already congested is madness. It'll just cause more cyclist accidents."

Tracey Hoff said: "Yay, what a result the cycle lanes are going to be removed, however what a huge waste of money which could have gone via school vouchers for vulnerable children for food during school holidays which the government have chosen not to support."

Ian Smith said: "The next thing will be that if they don't patch the bolt holes properly then water will get in and any frost will create potholes! It will be like the lunar surface!"

Tracy Phillips said: "Thank goodness for that! Such an eyesore, looks like were having road works everywhere and practically no one uses them but just cause more traffic. Good riddance."

Jan Jordan said: "Admittedly, this was a very confusing system. But it does sadden me to think that we are returing to the car being king. There are so many inconsiderate, unobservant and impatient drivers on the roads. Ten seconds added to your journey to be considerate to a cyclist is not too much to ask."

Jane Towers said: "It's a real shame they couldn't have come up with a cycle scheme that actually worked."
