Staff at Wadhurst Nursery School were puzzled as to how to prevent the popular children’s outdoor playhouse from being covered in mud.

Having a mud area next to the playhouse was the cause of the problem, so the school decided they needed some artificial turf laying at the entrance to the playhouse.

A Google search led them to the Grass Direct store and after management at the store learned about the project, they gifted the grass free of charge.

The grass has now been laid and nursery staff are already noticing a big difference.

Heidi Campion, teacher, said: “We love our mud area and we actively encourage the children to add water to it so that it gets really squelchy but this, paired with any long spells of rain we get, means the playhouse becomes covered in mud, inside and out.

“We had the playhouse painted last summer and have added fake roses on the outside to make it look like a little cottage, but we felt that the mud was spoiling it. It was also very slippery when you walk in.

“As a small nursery school every penny counts so having the grass donated means we can now use this money on other learning resources.

“We’re grateful to Grass Direct.”
