On the evening of March 3 Ms Everard was seen on CCTV as she walked home from her friend’s flat in Clapham, south London.

By March 10, human remains found in Kent were confirmed to be Ms Everard and since then a police officer has been arrested on suspicion of her murder.

The sessions will teach women how to defend themselves in threatening situations.

Hannah Isom, who runs the club with Sam Buchanan, said, “They are to give these women confidence in challenging situations they may find themselves in. We all know of someone or have even been that person so if we can help in any way that’s what we want to do.

“The reason behind our decision to run these sessions was the worrying news about not only the Sarah Everard case, but also so many women that you don’t hear about on the news - women that find themselves in violent relationships and any sort of harassment or abuse.

“These sessions will be centred around how to diffuse these situations.”

The boxing club can be found on George Street in Hailsham.
