She started on Facebook selling upcycled denim handbags and then progressed on to face coverings, which became very popular.

She said: "I started making them for family and friends so only charged £3.50 each to cover costs. This of course grew legs and a friend of mine said I should sell them on marketplace, so I joined a few communal groups and started to sell them on there.

“I changed the design so it fitted more snugly and had adjustable ear loops, so now charge £4 each and offer free local delivery in Pevensey Bay or collection and I am happy to post the face coverings for an extra £1.00."

The masks are all made to order and Ellen gets them made in 24 to 48 hours.

The idea for the poppy masks came when Ellen discovered she had som elovely poppy fabric.

She said: “I thought that would be a good way to wear a poppy for Remembrance Day and also give to the cause. I therefore bought more fabric and then sales went up, up and up.

“I charge £4 and £1 for everyone sold will go to the poppy appeal. I will also make hair clips and badges with all the scrap fabrics I sell.”
