Hastings and Bexhill barbers launch fundraising raffle to support Conquest Hospital staff

Two barbers have joined forces to set up a raffle to raise money for the staff at Conquest Hospital.

The initiative, launched by Connor McLeod and Ben Goodman, will see funds contributed to the Wellbeing fund set up by the Friends of Conquest Hospital to help NHS staff through the Covid-19 pandemic.

The fund was set up last month and has raised thousands for staff working on the front line.

Connor, from CMC Barbershop, who has had to delay the opening of his own shop to the coronavirus outbreak, said: "We wanted to do something to help the NHS workers that are doing so much for all of us."

Connor and Ben said they put together the raffle, which aims to raise £1,000 for the fund, to do something for local hospital workers.

Local businesses were asked to donate prizes and have responded with gifts such as a Mercedes Benz for the weekend courtesy of Lookers Mercedes of Eastbourne, a year membership of Stackz Gym, a bottle of Prosecco and two pizzas courtesy of the St Leonards Pub and many more.

The Raffle will run until May 10 when the prizes will be drawn.
