Hastings Covid-19 death toll reaches 200

A total of 200 have people have died with Covid-19 in Hastings, according to the latest government figures.

A further six Covid-19 deaths within 28 days were recorded in the latest daily figures released at 5pm on Tuesday (January 26).

This brings the total number of deaths in Hastings since the start of the pandemic to 200.

The news came on the same day the UK saw Covid-19 deaths pass the 100,000 mark. The UK has now recorded 100,162 deaths, the first European country to pass the landmark.

Rother also recorded a further six Covid-19 deaths in the latest daily figures, which brings the total number of deaths across the district to 273.

These figures include deaths in all settings, including care homes and hospitals.

Over the weekend, the number of deaths in hospitals operated by the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust – Conquest Hospital, Eastbourne District General, and Bexhill Hospital – passed 500 and reached 502 by Sunday.

Eastbourne has recorded 207 deaths in all settings within 28 days of a positive test, with seven included in the latest daily figures.
