"I spent eight years of my life in prison and that still didn’t stop me. Six years ago, I finally decided that enough was enough. I didn’t want to keep looking over my shoulder and I wanted to be a good role model for my children. I changed my life and now dedicate myself to helping stop kids from being put into that same situation.

"I set up Project Youth to help young people divert youngsters away from that life. I want to actively encourage them to find an activity that suits them to divert their focus and energy to something positive.

"There is so much influence online these days that gives a false image of that life. Drill music, for example, is a big issue. You have known gangs that are in the public eye rapping about stabbing people and selling drugs being looked up to by a lot of kids.

"As I have said many times, people like my self with experience in the gang lifestyle can talk with young people and show them the reality of the life. Through one to ones and workshops, we approach youngsters with an opportunity to change.”

As part of the project, Mr Scott has spent £550 to install a bleed-control kit in the town. These life-saving kits are designed to prevent people from bleeding to death while paramedics race to the scene.

Mr Scott added: "Currently there is nothing like this in our town and having one of these can prevent a possible death.

"An accident could happen right in front of anyone and if people know that this bleed kit was in reach then it gives the person involved the best chance of survival.”
