The festival is held annually at Broad Farm over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Eastbourne Historic Vehicle Club, the organisers of the event, have regretfully decided that this year’s event, which would have been the 45th, should not go ahead.

Despite some relaxation of the lockdown, it is felt that a gathering of several thousand people would cause unnecessary risks for everyone involved.

Steve Young, chairman of the EHVC, said, “The club has taken the decision to cancel this year’s event, the first time ever in more then 40 years. The show is all about an enjoyable and safe experience for both entrants and the general public and we are mindful of the effects of the size of the event on all involved, including the local Hellingly village residents.

“The planning stage for this year’s show was well underway and we thank all involved for their hard work. However, we will be back stronger than ever next year and look forward to welcoming everyone.”
