But Helen Andreou, owner of Kings Barbers in the Bishopric, is urging people to wait out the lockdown rather than risk cutting their own hair.

She said: “You can get away with styling up your hair with a bit of gel, a bit of wax.

“It’s been a month. Your hair can’t have grown that much in a month.

“If it’s really bad then just cut the edges to tidy it up if you can get your mum or girlfriend [to do it].

“Just literally a little tidy up – that’s fine.”

Helen said she had seen some DIY haircuts which people had done.

She added: “I just thought oh my God you need to wear a hat now.”

Safety comes first according to Helen.

She said: “You’re not going anywhere. You’re not going out, you’re not going clubbing so why do you want a haircut.

“Who’s going to see you at the end of the day. No one. If it worries you that much wear a cap.”

The message added: “Thanks for your understanding and continued support and we look forward to serving you again when it is safe to do so.

“Kindest regards and lots of love from the Kings Barbers team.

“See you all soon folks and hang on in there.”
