Horsham Matters is inviting those of all ages to join the six week challenge to support the charity’s work in running Horsham Foodbank, relieving fuel poverty and assisting the homeless when they are newly housed.

This February and March, participants will be able to join virtual Safari Stride in the Serengeti, a cycle along the Great Wall of China or a climb up Mount Everest as part of FitforFeb and MoveforMarch.

Paula Daly, community fundraiser at Horsham Matters, said: “We really hope the Horsham district community get behind our fun fitness campaign. Anyone can take part – you can climb your stairs on a rainy day, get the kids outside for a fresh-air walk while racking up steps, or climb into the saddle and set your own cycling distance.

“Funds raised will go towards ensuring our valuable work continues as demand looks set to remain high even as lockdown eases.”

The charity has been operating a doorstep delivery model for day-to-day emergency food support, and in January alone the charity delivered 613 food parcels, compared with 258 in the same month the previous year. Some 210 family foodbank food parcels were delivered for half-term for families who were referred by local schools.

Registration is £10 for individuals and £20 for families.
