Ian Robinson, business support and HR manager at Horsham company Assurity Consulting, visited Collyer’s to help with the college’s job-seeking advice course.

Employability programme co-ordinator Lucy Hargreaves said: “We have designed the programme to help students into the world of work with the help of taught sessions, workshops, trips and a host of guest speakers we have planned throughout the year.”

The course aims to help students gain an understanding of how to match and ‘sell’ their skills, knowledge and experience in a covering letter or job application form.

Students were able to ask Ian Robinson questions about job applications, interviews and practical tools and techniques to use when looking for employment.

The group were also given advice and guidance on CVs, planning for a job interview, and how to predict the key questions they are likely to be asked.

Deputy Principal Steve Martell said: “In addition, Assurity Consulting kindly sponsor our Basketball Academy, which is hugely appreciated by the Collyer’s sporting community.”
