Hove Soiree Rotary Club offered to recycle west Hove residents’ Christmas trees in exchange for a small donation.

Demand for collection was so high that the Rotary club stopped accepting pre-booked collection slots after filling several vans.

Members of the public still continued to donate to the club after the collections had finished.

All the trees collected were recycled into soil improver or compost instead of being sent to landfill.

The Rotarians collaborated with several local charities and organisations to collect the trees and promote the collection including The Real Junk Food Project, Scouts, Brighton Rotary Club, Inner Wheel, and Fareshare.

Money raised benefitted some of the groups and will be used by the Rotarians throughout the year to support other local groups, charities, and people.

More information about the collection and details on how to donate can be found here.
