Pictures show Hastings and St Leonards seafronts looking eerily quiet today as people obey social distancing rules.

Temperatures have hit 17 degrees Celsius in the county today but few people have been out – demonstrating that residents are following government guidance. The UK is nearing the end of week two of a three-week lockdown imposed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. People are not allowed to go out unless it is essential, such as buying food or picking up medication. Sussex Police and local authorities pleaded with residents to stay at home this weekend despite the warm weather. Their plea came after police bosses said they feared that the weather and ‘lockdown fatigue’ might mean more people may ignore official guidance.
