Shoreham autumn show features fabulous ugly vegetable

Shoreham Horticultural & Allotment Society’s third virtual show of the year, the autumn show on Saturday, October 10, was well supported, with photos of autumn tints in the flower classes, long-awaited vegetables ready to grace the dinner table and fruit classes featuring apples and pears.

Show secretary Daphne Thomas said it was a very tight contest. “Congratulations must go to Tim Loughton, who won with overall points of 28, followed by Ron Sullivan with 25 points and third place going to Jenny Hughes with 23 points.”

The ugly vegetable class, receiving most points, was won by Jo Lambert with her very twisted potato and the photography section proved popular, with Ann Fryer taking first place for her photo, Woodland Walk.

Daphne added: “We would like to thank everyone who entered for their support to the society. We hope you enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, due to the present rulings with coronavirus, we are still unable to hold any meetings but if you continue to look on our website www.shorehamhorticulturalsociety.org it will keep you up to date with news of the society.”
