It’s a proud day for Rustington’s top Scout

IT WAS a proud moment for one dedicated Rustington Scout as he received one of the organisation’s most prestigious accolades.

Andrew Sula, of Mallon Dene, was presented with the Queen’s Scout Award during the annual National Scout Service and Parade at Windsor Castle.

Despite lashing rain, nothing could dampen the 18-year-old’s special day, which was the culmination of more than two years of volunteer work.

Andrew’s mum, Sue, said she was “brimming with pride” when the teen was presented the award during the ceremony, which was attended by the Queen and chief Scout and survival expert Bear Grylls.

Sue said: “I have never been more proud of Andrew in all my life. It was such a special day for us.

“The Scouts are like his second family. I know he has worked tremendously hard to receive this award and he thoroughly deserves it.”

The award was presented to Andrew in recognition of his local and international volunteer work.

He will now feature on the club’s “honour board” as one of the elite few from the village to have received the prestigious accolade.
