Tim Holtam, founder and director at BTTC, said: “We have moved the Brighton Table Tennis Club online using mainly Zoom to host The BTTC Daily Show at 5pm everyday, as well as BTTC yoga, fitness and cooking classes with club members.

“The community is doing what we can to keep in touch with each other through lots of video calls and Whatsapp messages.

“The 5pm Daily Show is getting better every day and feedback is that it has been a real lifeline to many.”

“There are already fitness teachers, who have huge platforms online, doing a similar thing but, when it’s one of your teachers, it’s different.”

The club’s Daily Show has received positive feedback from parents of club members who have Down Syndrome and are currently stuck indoors.

One parent, Angela O’Flinn, said “These amazing daily group sessions are very therapeutic and great morale boosters.

“My son, Chris, now looks forward to 5pm every day.”

More than 40 members of the club joined the video conference on Monday (March 23) which featured cooking ideas, club sing-a-longs, table tennis tips and demonstrations.

Another parent, Marie Louise Tonkin, said: “My son, Andrew, misses the club and all the people involved so the 5’ o clock show is great.

“Andrew loves the show and it is a lifeline.”
