The Post Office has finally announced a reopening date for the store in its new location in Langney Shopping Centre.

It will be open on Wednesday, August 12, from 1pm.

Residents have been calling for the service to return ever since the former Post Office in the unit next door closed in January 2019.

Post Office manager Sam Coe said, “We are very pleased to announce a date for the opening of this branch as we are now able to provide the necessary on-site training for the couple who will be operating it.

“We are very aware the residents and businesses in Langney are eagerly awaiting the reopening.

“The coronavirus pandemic unfortunately delayed our plans to restore a Post Office to this community as we needed to adhere to social distancing guidelines, which prevented the required on-site training.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The news comes after pressure from a petition signed by more than 5,000 people as well as local councillor Alan Shuttleworth, who called the delay ‘simply not acceptable’.
