Littlehampton residents join in Keep Britain Tidy campaign

Organised by West Sussex county councillor Gary Markwell, who represents Arundel and Courtwick division, the day of action saw volunteers armed with litter pickers and rubbish sacks to tidy up the Kingley Gate and Eden Park developments.

Nine sacks full of litter were collected from green spaces, play parks and kerbsides around the residential developments.

Several litter hot spots and some overflowing rubbish bins were identified and reported to Arun District Council.

Mr Markwell said: “It was really good to see so many people coming together to help make our local areas tidier for us all to enjoy. We all had good fun and I’ve already had local residents asking me to organise another litter picking day.

“Arun is such a beautiful area to live in and we always need to keep in mind the damage that litter can do to the environment around us, so please remember to take your litter home.”
