The works will see the roundabout at the junction of the A264 and Rusper Road upgraded as part of the development of the new 2,750-home estate on land north of Horsham.

As well as the new homes, the estate will also include shops and community facilities, along with the new purpose-built Bohunt Horsham school, sports facilities, parks and pedestrian, cycle and road networks.

A spokesman for Legal & General, which owns the land, said that improving and upgrading the roundabout “needs to take place to support the entire development, but has been programmed to start now to support the opening of the new Bohunt Horsham School which is being delivered by the Department for Education.”

The work is scheduled to begin on Monday (September 28) and will include additional lanes to increase vehicle capacity, installing ‘intelligent traffic signals’, footpaths and cycleways to connect Horsham to the new development.

Landscaping and drainage measures

Building firm NATTA have been appointed to carry out the works and will be working from 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am - 12pm on Saturdays.

Initially, the works will be taking place away from the roads, and NATTA will provide updates when works on the roads will begin.

The spokesman added: “There will be some inevitable disruption caused by these works and we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. “However, we are working to minimise this disruption wherever possible, and will only be using lane closures when absolutely necessary and trying to restrict these to off-peak periods.”
