A Horsham man has completed a 26 mile run round the town’s streets after the Brighton Marathon was postponed.

Jim Hardwick, 39, has raised more than £3,000 so far in aid of the air ambulance, smashing his original target of £2,020.

Jim decided to run in aid of the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust, which is a charity, after it helped him when he was involved in a bicycle crash in 2015.

He said he completed the run on Sunday in 3 hours 17 minutes, but still hopes to run the Brighton Marathon when the event is held.

Jim added: “It’s been so satisfying to obliterate my target.

“A lot of people have been very generous.

“I felt the air ambulance needed the money more than ever.

“I started and finished at our front door. That meant I could come back past and get some water and give people a wave.”

Jim did four laps of the town over the 26 mile run and he said he followed social distancing advice throughout.

Friends and neighbours gave their support to Jim from their front gardens.

They cheered and rang bells to spur him on during the run.
