Mid Sussex residents recognised with honours in the Queen’s Birthday List 2020

Stephen Johnston, economic adviser, trade remedies and disputes for the Department for International Trade, was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to International Trade.

David Curtis-Brignell was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his service to tourism. David was the deputy chief executive of Visit Kent, Visit Herts and GoToPlaces and chairman of Visit England’s English Tourism Week.

Kadija George, also known as Kadija Sesay, was made an MBE for her services to publishing.

Ms George is a British literary activist, short story writer and poet as well as the publisher and managing editor of the magazine SABLE, a cultural publication for writers of colour to showcase their work.

She is also the series editor for the Inscribe imprint of Peepal Tree Press.

David Collins, vice-chairman of the Haywards Heath Branch of the Royal British Legion, became a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for his services to the Ex-Service community in West Sussex.

Mr Trumble said: “It’s brilliant that, once again, some of our talented and devoted local residents have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

“It is always a pleasure to hear of such dedicated Mid Sussex residents, who work so hard to enrich our communities.”
