Being unable to run the usual annual Trick or Treat Trail due to Covid-19 restrictions, Horsham’s Rotary Club and Horsham District Council are jointly organising the ‘Monster Villain Safari Trail’ which will run from Saturday, October 24, until Sunday, November 1.

This free and creepy family trail will give families socially distanced and contactless fun as they bring the monsters to life using their smartphones.

The trail to find the ten ‘monster villains’ takes on average about an hour to complete and is completely free for families and groups of six or under to take part in.

Dave Smith, hon secretary of The Rotary Club of Horsham, said: “In these difficult times it has been hard to run our usual series of community and charitable events but this trail represents a safe and fun way to bring some much needed activity to the town while keeping hundreds of families occupied for a while.”

The safari works by utilising contactless QR codes, without the need for families to download or sign up to anything.

Ten vinyl window monsters, all specially created for this project have been placed around Horsham shops and business windows for families to hunt down.

There is no need to actually go inside the venues, but some participating businesses may offer extra incentives to come in while you visit.

When families in Horsham scan each character’s unique QR code the monster will come to life in an animation on their smartphone and they’ll learn their names, stories and powers.

To start the trail simply scan any one of the ten window displayed QR Codes.

Rotarian Dave said: “Younger children will enjoy spotting the colourful characters in shop windows and older kids, and grown-up ones, will engage by hearing the stories.

“After finding all ten Monster Villains, families will be rewarded with a free eBook specially created for the Monster Villain trail.”

The ten shops supporting the trail are: Impact Specialist Finance, Brock Taylor Estate Agents, Vacalola, Dab Hands, Toy Barnhaus, Fairkind Child, Transformation Beauty, Deja, La Vida and Truffles Bakery.

Look out for the QR Code monster stickers in their windows from Saturday, October 24.
