Katrina Mahoney, 37, of Tower Road, Lancing, was in the Asda store, in South Street, Lancing, last Friday afternoon with the girls, aged 15 and 16, to buy food for the giant rabbits she breeds.

When she approached the till with a trolley full of vegetables and four bottles of beer, for her own consumption, the three of them were asked for ID.

Katrina said: “I was very angry, it’s quite ridiculous. Do people have to get a babysitter in so they can go shopping or if they want to have a drink with a meal?

“I’m not going to shop at any Asda now. I left my shopping at the till. I went to Co-op and had no problem there.”
