The committee chaired by Mr Richard Lambert-Gorwyn, agreed that the money should be spent on a specific item of benefit to the village, rather than day-to-day expenditure.

Master Wheelwright Douglas Andrews was commissioned to make the village sign which is made of an English Oak frame with a metalwork panel.

The panel depicts the history of Punnetts Town, including references to the local timber and poultry industries.

Mike and Pat Clark funded the applications submitted to the local authority to gain permission to erect both the sign and bench and the commemorative plaques attached to them.

David Bysouth, who has since passed away, made the bench out of oak and donated it to the village.

The Punnetts Town Village Hall Management Committee would like to pass on its heartfelt thanks to all those whose generosity and support has made the sign and bench possible.
