The attraction had asked for nominations of deserving people in order to give them a festive treat.

Sharnfold Farm, situated on the Hailsham Road between Eastbourne and Stone Cross, is presenting its Farmyard Cinema: Festive Fun on the Farm event until December 23. It promises to take people on ‘a magical and Covid secure festive adventure like no other.’

Among special guests, invited to Friday’s launch, were Karen Ohuz from Uckfield, her daughter Erika, Erika’s best friend Max Skinner and Max’s mum Vic Floor. Karen wanted to say a thank you to Vic for being so kind to her after a difficult year and a trip to the cinema did the trick.

Karen said: “It was a lovely evening. The barn was so cosy and the non-alcoholic mulled wine was a great touch. I really needed that so thank you to Sharnfold Farm for making it possible.”

Liz Ovenden from Newhaven was also invited and brought daughter Sara and granddaughter Charlie. She wanted to thank Sara for being so kind after the death of her husband. She said: “It was brilliant, even front row seats.”

Films to be staged between now and December 23 include Home Alone, Love Actually, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Die Hard, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Elf, It’s A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street and The Holiday.

But it’s much more than just watching a film. The experience starts with a wander through the snow-covered wintry wonderland surrounded by Christmas trees adorned with festive lights and decorations. People can then stroll through the mesmerising light tunnel that will transport them into the depths of the enchanted forest cinema space where they can watch the film.

Due to Covid, each filming is limited to 30 people but everything will comply with social distancing. Cost is £25 per ticket.
