The event was the society’s first show of the year and took place on Saturday, March 29 (1.30pm) at the Cyprus Hall.
It featured exhibits of flowers, vegetables, floral art, cookery and photography.
BHHS said the event was a success under the guidance of show manager Sue Goodsall with more than 130 exhibits.
A spokesperson said: “Teresa Welch wiped the board in the three photography classes with three firsts and the Trevor Green Photography Trophy. Mr Charlie Armstrong was awarded the John Kinnest Daffodil Trophy. Judith Parsons won The Copper Kettle Trophy for her Leek and Cheese Flan in the Domestic Classes. John Eliis won the Ron and Jean Tigg Memorial Trophy for a pot plant in classes 26-31 and was also awarded the Presidents Cup. Our president Roy Godsmark selects his choice from all the exhibits in the show hall.”
Visitors also enjoyed a tombola for all ages and a produce stall of cakes, savouries, plants, books and garden accessories, all provided by members. There were refreshments and relaxed seating as well. Organisers have thanked everyone who helped put on the show and everyone who visited.
A BHHS spokesperson said: “Our Summer Show takes place on Saturday, June 28, at Cyprus Hall, 1.30pm to 3.45pm, and our Autumn Show takes place on Saturday, September 6. In the meantime, why not come along to our next monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 7 (7.15pm for 7.45pm)? Enjoy an evening with like-minded gardeners and plant/flower enthusiasts with a talk by Jacqueline Aviolet on ‘Hardy Geraniums – History and Propagation’. There will be refreshments, a produce stall and a raffle and people can find out about joining. Visit www.burgesshillhorticulturalsociety.com.
