Plans have been unveiled to give Eastbourne Railway Station a facelift.

In a design and access statement submitted to Eastbourne Borough Council by Tony Gee and Partners LLP the plans outline seven areas for remedial works to the surrounding canopies.

The proposals include like-for-like replacements, repairs, painting and cleaning to parts of the Grade II listed building.

A Tony Gee and Partners LLP spokesperson said in the statement, “The aim of the repairs to the canopies is to provide the existing structure an extension of 15 years of service life.”

The statement also says that defects were identified after a survey in December, which included ‘minor corrosion’ and ‘leaking gutters’ in some areas.
