Police in Bognor seeking help communicating with influx of Bulgarians and Romanians

Sussex Police are seeking volunteers to help improve communications with a recent influx of Bulgarians and Romanians in Bognor Regis.

Giving a report to town councillors about policing on Monday night, PSCO Chris Marsden described how they were dealing with some anti-social behaviour incidents involving youth people, with some arrests made and investigations now proceeding.

They were also working with Shopwatch and the business wardens to respond to issues around Fitzleet Car Park.

He also mentioned how due to a recent influx of Bulgarians and Romanians in the town they were seeking volunteers to improve communications with this community.

Police had seen some gatherings in the area around the railway station and while they are monitoring and dispersing these groups, police also want to try and engage and help link them to services if required.

PCSO Marsden said: “We would like to reach out and would like to get somebody to help us out with a bit of language and interpretation.”
