A spokesman for Rother District Council said: “Under current Government guidance in relation to Covid-19, it is against the law for gatherings of more than 30 people to take place in a public outdoor space without the completion of an appropriate risk assessment that has taken into account all risk, including Covid-19 restrictions, in full.

“Any event of more than 30 people, without agreement from the police and local authority, will not be allowed to go ahead.”

Police and the council will be monitoring arrivals at the beach, according to the spokesman, and will disperse or turn away any large groups or gatherings.

“Anyone who has bought a ticket for an event at Camber Sands beach should contact the event organiser and ask for a refund,” the spokesman added.

“Following this guidance is crucial in order to do your bit to protect yourself, your family, the NHS and your community.”
