Pride as ordination shifts from Chichester Cathedral to Bognor Regis

FOUR new priests were ordained in a packed Bognor Regis church.

The choice of St Wilfrid’s Church as the location for the curates to be accepted into the CofE was a great honour.

Father Andrew Wadsworth, the vicar of St Wilfrid’s, said: “We were very pleased and proud to host the ordination as it is usually conducted in Chichester Cathedral.”

Among the ordinands was Father Trevor Marshall from St Wilfrid’s.

He said it was a great privilege to be ordained in his home church.

He found the service inspiring – with an ‘overwhelming’ support from his family and friends in the congregation – and it helped him prepare for his future ministry in Bognor.

The service was conducted by the bishop of Horsham, the Very Rev Mark Sowerby.

During the service, the ordinands were given Bibles and then anointed.

This was the focus of the service and the moment they became priests.
