Readers react to new Chichester street art

Readers of the Chichester Observer have shared their thoughts after new street art appeared in the city centre.

Readers of the Observer had mixed feelings after the new graffiti appeared in West Pallant recently.

The work, which shows two rats holding protest signs, appeared behind another piece of graffiti by artist JPS, which appeared in 2018.

Sean O'Lorey said: "I think it's great and adds character to the city. Over the last couple of years, Chichester has been a dying city to it's nice to have a bit of character added to it."

Rachel Whittaker said: "Hopefully Banksy will see that and take pity on the folk of Chichester and come do some proper graffiti art."

Adam Brown said: "I love the way they are sneaking up on the cat."

Jimmy Green said: "I like that art but is that really the city centre? It looks disgraceful."

John Field said: "Why would anyone get upset about this. It is humourous and brings home some hard truth pictorially. Very relevant to remind us where this government is taking us."

Trudi Harrison described the artwork as 'brilliant and accurate'.

Max Tødd said: "So much excellent (large scale) street art in Chichester but those are just terrible stencils + political / divisive. Hope CDC removes."

Alex Barclay said: "Banksy is clever and subtle... That's just cheap left-wing graffiti."
