Record year for life savers at Horsham club

HORSHAM life saving club celebrated a record year of passes at its 2011 presentation evening.

Horsham District Council chairman Claire Vickers and Royal Life Saving Society UK national president Stuart Bailey congratulated the club on the range of qualifications gained, as well as the highest number of successful exams taken since it was formed in 1982.

Guests at the evening included Natalie Brahma-Pearl, director of community services at HDC; Deryck Wright, president of Horsham Lions; John Stainer, honorary club member and chairman of RLSS South East Region and Tim Bolton from The Pavilions.

A raffle was held with the money raised being allocated to sponsor Horsham Lion’s Swimathon.

There was also a display of RLSS memorabilia from the chairman’s collection.

Anyone interested in taking a course on resuscitation, water safety and life saving can obtain details from the club web site horshamlifesavingclub.co.uk or pick up an information sheet from the club notice board in the foyer at The Pavilions In The Park Leisure Complex, Hurst Road, Horsham.

General tuition by the Clubs voluntary trainers and teachers takes place on a Thursday evening for both adults and students.
