Guests were also treated to Christmas carols from children at St Margaret’s school, craft stalls in the White Horse Inn, wine tasting, children’s activities, mulled wine and mince pies.

A spokesman told the Middy: “Visitors and residents turned out in force to celebrate the festival of Lucia.

“An important part of Scandinavian culture, the Swedish Choir lent an authentic theme to the evening in a well-attended, special service in Saint Margaret’s Church.

“Local vineyards assisted in providing a popular wine tasting alongside the art and craft stalls.
