Retired solicitor, 67, died after accident at home in West Wittering

A retired solicitor died after suffering a head injury in an accident at his home in West Wittering, an inquest has heard.

Nicholas Hall, 67, died at St Richard's Hospital on December 7, 2020, after he was found 'semi-conscious' by paramedics the night before.

Following a hearing at Crawley Coroner's Court on Tuesday (February 16), it could not be determined whether Mr Hall had fallen or collapsed.

The inquest heard that Mr Hall suffered a 'possible loss of consciousness' but, after coming round, was able to telephone the ambulance service at 10.43 pm.

Paramedics attended and found Mr Hall lying on his back on the tiled floor in the lounge, the inquest heard.

He had sustained a two-inch long cut above his right eye, which was 'actively bleeding'.

Mr Hall was prescribed the blood thinning drug, Rivaroxaban and taken to hospital.

The inquest heard that Mr Hall, was also hypotensive, indicating that he 'may have sustained' a large amount of blood loss.

A full CT scan showed there was no intracranial bleed nor long bone fracture, the inquest heard.

Mr Hall sadly deteriorated throughout the morning and died at 8am.
