The event will be running for twice as long as usual, from October 17-31, to make it easier for visitors to safely enjoy their pumpkin picking, and with a focus on pre-schoolers during the first week.

Sophie Davey, from Rogate Pumpkin Patch, said: “Watching this year unfold, and see how many cancellations and restrictions that have affected so many families’ lives due to the pandemic, we were determined to give the community some sort of pumpkin experience this autumn.”

The Rogate Pumpkin Patch team started planning their patch in June, but knew there was a huge question mark about whether they could do their usual Hallowe’en and pumpkin-picking event this half-term.

With children of their own they said they know just how important it is, especially this year, to spend time together outdoors.

Sophie said: “Although we are working closely with Chichester District Council, who have been very supportive, and following all the government outdoor regulations, the patch is so big, social distancing will seem a nice natural thing without the awkwardness of having to move out of the way for someone.”

Unique Hallowe’en decorations will be on display, as well as autumnal settings for family photos.

There will also be haystacks to climb, barrel rides and go-karts to whizz around in, and maize to run through – as well as delicious local food and drink.

To spread out the arrival of visitors and allow for social distancing entrance is ticket only – tickets and a time slot must be booked online.

Entry is £2 per adult and children under two free. No dogs are allowed unless they are assistance dogs.
