Rustington pupils stamp their mark on Sussex competition

PUPILS at a Rustington primary school have continued their proud record as champion collectors of stamps.

The Georgian Gardens School Stamp Club enjoyed more successes at the Sussex Philatelic Societies’ schools competition.

Annabelle Rose, with her display on flowers, won the Jack Gee Trophy for the under-10 age group, and Katherine Greenway, with her entry on the Queen’s diamond jubilee, received the John Heys Cup as winner of the 10-12 age group.

Brian Rogers, secretary of the Littlehampton and Rustington Philatelic Society, presented Annabelle and Katherine with their trophies at a school assembly. Other club members doing well in the competition were Anis Magano, whose set on the subject of animals took second place in the under-10s, and Jen Ewert, third in that age group with a space-themed entry and Abbie Raynor West, who was commended. In the 10-12 category, Tyler Whitcombe came second with a display on the Olympics, 1948-2012. A surprise presentation of the Vallings Shield was made to Georgian Gardens head teacher Bill Molloy, for the highest aggregate score in the under-10 age group.
