Six fire engines sent to East Sussex house fire

Six crews were sent to tackle a fire at a house early this morning.

East Sussex Fire said they were called to Wellingham Lane, Ringmer, shortly after 4am on Sunday (April 25).

All people were accounted for, the fire service said in a statement at 4.17am.

In an update at 7.39am, a spokesman said the fire had been extinguished.

Three fire engines remained at the scene and crews were shoring up the property and damping down hotspots.

“There were no injuries but the Red Cross are supporting the family,” said a spokesman for East Sussex Fire.

“The cause is believe to have been accidental but a full fire investigation will take place.”
