Skin care brand gives away 10,000 hand creams to NHS staff

A high street skin care company has given away hand cream to NHS staff after temporarily closing its stores.

L’Occitane En Provence, which has a branch in East Street, Brighton and North Street, Chichester, has given away thousands of hand creams to staff working in the NHS.

The brand closed all of its stores from Saturday (March 21) amid the coronavirus pandemic and NHS staff picked up 5,000 hand creams before the closures.

A further 5,000 hand creams have been donated directly to hospitals by the brand which is provisionally set to reopen its stores on Friday, April 10.

“To help in this unfortunate time of crisis, L’Occitane has supported UK NHS & Ireland HSE Staff by donating hand creams to soothe their sore hands from frequent hand washing,” a spokesperson said.

“L’Occitane is sending hand creams directly to NHS/ HSE hospitals and invited staff to collect a 30ml hand cream from L’occitane boutiques, whilst stores remained open.”

Some NHS staff thanked the brand for the donations on social media.

L’Occitane has said it will pay all retail staff salaries in full during the temporary closure.

Businesses, entertainment venues, schools, and workplaces have closed across the UK due to the coronavirus (also known as Covid-19) following government advice.
