Step up for Moonlight Walk Week 2020 and raise money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice

St Wilfrid’s Hospice’s annual Moonlight Walk event is going virtual this week, with participants asked to ‘step up’ to support their local hospice.

This year the Moonlight Walk Week takes place from September 5-12, and supporters are taking on a 10,000 or 20,000-step challenge to raise money for St Wilfrid’s.

Chief executive Alison Moorey said: “Thanks to everyone who has signed up to walk with us this Moonlight Walk Week.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, nurses at St Wilfrid’s have stepped up to continue caring for people living with a terminal illness in the community, facing ever-changing challenges.

Jan Barnes has been taking part since 2006 and heads the Game, Set and Match team for Moonlight Walk Week.

She said: “Me, my daughter, granddaughter and Lola the dog will be doing the walk this year on my birthday, September 7, with cake and champagne to follow – but not for the dog of course!

“St Wilfrid’s have looked after many friends over the years so we’re pleased to be supporting them again in these particularly strange times.”
