Team members shopped for the groceries, which included a healthy, balanced diet, and created weekly food supplies to feed children their lunch for seven days.

A spokesman for the Gateway Hub thanked everyone who helped support the initiative – the volunteers, donors, supporters and Shoreham–based business, Focus Group.

Elaine Goodman, Charity and Community Communications Manager at Focus Group, said: “Focus Group has been delighted to contribute 240 pints of fresh milk and fruit each week to the Gateway Hub Summer lunch club.

“We’re passionate about helping members of the Shoreham community and surrounding areas, and look forward to supporting them on future projects.”

Due to the need of this service in the local area, The Gateway Hub is planning on providing lunch to children during October half term.

It also has a Christmas project in the pipeline, to alleviate the pressure of the festive period.

The hub, which grew out of two Facebook groups – Shoreham Covid-19 Community Support and Southwick & Fishersgate Covid-19 Community Support – is also continuing to help other people in need during the pandemic by putting together personalised parcels of food, toiletries, nappies and basic clothing.
