Sun shone for Bolney Pram Race as entrants raised £4k for nearby charities

The streets of Bolney were lined with spectators as the year’s most anticipated event took place.

Hundreds of people waited outside The Eight Bells Pub on Easter Monday for the popular Bolney Pram Race.

Racers had to complete the one mile stretch whilst pit stopping for a beverages of an alcoholic or non alcoholic, dependant on age.

Trophies are awarded to the first three home in each race.

In the adults’ race, team Booby Slippers were crowned the winners, closely followed by the Hilllbillies. Team Back to the Future finished in third place.

In the children’s race, Madness & Mayhem stumped the competition. Team Adventure Time were next to cross the finish line, followed by Team Number Two United.

The pub landlady, Michaela Strahan wanted to thank the everyone who volunteered.

“Everyone was so amazing and the weather made it so much better.

“A massive thank you to the volunteers who got up at six in the morning to set up. It was a real team effort.”

The event raised all together £4,176 for its chosen charities.

One of this year’s two chosen charities are Kangaroos Disability Clubs which supports children and young adults with a wide range of learning difficulties and special needs.

The other, SERV Sussex provides night time transportation of blood, blood products and other urgent medical items for NHS Hospitals across Sussex.

Britain’s Got Talent contestant Vince Venus was the Master of Ceremonies and Official Race Starter.
