The Andrex puppy, known as William, delighted customers at the Tesco Uckfield superstore but has now found a new home.

Community champion at the branch, Robert Muggeridge, and store manager, Jon Briley, donated the giant stuffed toy to the Children’s Respite Trust in Uckfield following discussions with customers and staff at the store.

Robert Muggeridge said: “We wanted to make sure both customers and colleagues had a say in where William ended up.

“I’m sure he will be very happy in his new home and the kids seem delighted to have a new friend to play with.”

The Children’s Respite Trust provides respite for disabled children and their families in Kent and Sussex throughout the year.

The Uckfield branch of the charity is currently fundraising for essential renovations including a new lift for disabled access.
