Nathan Gibbard, who lives in Burgess Hill, and Luke de la Nougerede, who lives in London will be streaming themselves playing Resident Evil for 24 hours on YouTube to raise money for the charity Help Them Help Us.

The challenge this summer will mark 15 years since their original 24-hour gaming challenge playing the same series in 2005.

Luke, who is originally from Fletching, said: “Me and Nathan both went to Oathall Community College, and used to make home movies together.

“We wanted to try and play our video game collection in 24 hours, this was in the days before YouTube, so we started hosting videos on Google Video to share them with some friends.

“We had 50,000 to 70,000 views within a couple of weeks, which was huge then, so we released all the videos on YouTube eventually when it launched.”

Luke and Nathan used to do four gaming challenges a year but stepped away from the series five years ago.

The pair have raised nearly £200 so far.

Luke said: “We thought doing another challenge would be good to do for the NHS Heroes charity, and we’re planning to do it on June 6 – 15 years to the day since we recorded the very first one – although the date may change depending on the lockdown situation.”

The 30-year-old duo are asking people to donate directly to the charity, and to mention that they have done it for the challenge in their comment.

Their YouTube channel can be found here, and the trailer for the gaming marathon is here.
