Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said it wanted to reassure parents and carers that they can still bring babies and children to the hospital – if they are significantly unwell.

Jane Dickson, chief of nursing and midwifery at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We want to tell all parents and carers that if your baby or child is significantly unwell, please bring them to hospital.

“We understand the concerns that parents and carers have about the spread of coronavirus – many of us are parents and carers too – and we want to advise and reassure everyone that we are taking all precautions necessary to continue to protect and provide safe care to all of our patients.

“Our fantastic team of nurses and doctors are here to help you.

“Please, if your child is really unwell, do not delay – especially if they have an underlying medical condition – bring your baby or child to the hospital for medical care.”
