Sussex Police alert over rutting deer

A warning to people to steer clear of rutting deer has gone out from Sussex Police.

Wildlife officers are urging people to keep their distance from the animals at this time of year.

A spokesman said: “We are now at the start of the rutting season. So please beware not to get too close to wild deer as the stags will often take offence if anyone goes near his harem.

“Remember, a deer can run at 30mph - much faster than you, so please just avoid them until the end of the rutting season in mid-November.”
