The move was praised by Bexhill Mayor Cllr Lynn Langlands.

It comes at the same time as Hastings Direct made a donation to the Mayor’s Fund and requested that some of the money went to the Bexhill Town Bus.

The Mayor said: “This is a real opportunity to leave the car at home and use this wonderful little local service to come in and out of town and shop in our very special local businesses, who are in great need of support during this difficult time.”

The Bexhill Town Bus is a non-profit organisation run completely by volunteers. The Managing Director Stuart Hardie said “The Directors of the Bexhill Community Bus really appreciate the donation from Hastings Direct.

“We will use this money to help us in ensuring that the Bus Service continues during this difficult period.

“We want to thank all our passengers for their continuing support, and wish them all a Happy Christmas.”

The town bus plays an important role in providing a regular service to parts of the town and outskirts that are not served by commercial operators.

The Town Bus travels four routes covering Pebsham, Cooden, Little Common and Sutton Place.

All four routes operate from Monday to Saturday throughout the year, except on bank holidays.

There is a friendly conductor to help you with all your comings and goings. So come and join them for free and leave the car at home.

Travel is always free for holders of concessionary passes and Blind Persons cards.
