Ellie Valentine, 14, from Ninfield, who attends Claverham Community College in Battle, called the song Heroes.

She said: “Heroes is the first song I have written by myself and was sparked by an assignment I was asked to complete as part of my music GCSE coursework. I really wanted to do something unique that everyone could relate to in these rough times.

“I wrote Heroes as a way to express my emotions around dealing with the impact of the coronavirus, as well as the lockdown, and to try and help others in the same situation.

“I tried to make use of my time during this period to write this song as a tribute to the NHS and to hopefully bring our community together.”

She said she has had some ‘fantastic responses’ to her first song and is already working on more material.

Ellie added: “The next two songs are very close to being ready.”

She said they will appear on her YouTube channel, which is called ellievalentinemusic.

Ellie has been interested in music since she was a toddler.

She said: “I have taken part in many performing arts productions over the last 11 years. I am a student with Mad Fish Performing Arts Stage School and Agency, run by Emma Burnett in Bexhill, and have been for eight years now. She is very proud of what I have achieved and is a great support.

“I have appeared in many local productions such as Annie, Oliver, Les Miserables, Grease and Little Shop of Horrors. I also take an active part in the Hastings Musical Festival every year and have been fortunate enough to get some good results.

“Recently, I entered Battle’s Got Talent, which involved many talented local performers and was judged by some very experienced names in the field of music and musical theatre. I am very proud to say that I was awarded first place overall.”

In the future Ellie hopes to join a performing arts college and university and fulfil her dreams of becoming a West End performer or singer.

She added: “I would very much like to thank everyone who has shared and listened to my song.

“It means a lot to have this much support and I hope by listening to my song, people can relate to it and be inspired to try something new during this uncertain time.”
