This is what you need to know about Patcham Duck Fayre

Families will once again be able to enjoy the popular event on Sunday, May 19, thanks to the newly formed Patcham Revival Group.

The fayre originally started in 1945 and was run by the 44' Brighton Scouts.

It would take place in the shade of the 300-year-old elm trees that run along the Old London Road, starting from its junction at the Ladies Mile Road and finishing at Patcham House School.

The revival group has secured an agreement for the event to take place at the same location and it will run from 11am until 4pm.

Sally Booth, chair of The Patcham Duck Fayre Revival Group, said: “We wanted to do this because we took our own children to the fayre back in the 1990s and it was a great opportunity for the community to get together.”

Visitors to the fayre can expect a selection of activities including traditional stalls and funfair rides.

As people venture into the Patcham Peace Gardens they will be treated to dog show, a family picnic area, a beer tent and much more, including a spooky ghost train.

Ms Booth said: “We want to create a community spirit and bring all generations together and make it a happy day for people to look forward to every year.”

A stage will be erected in the centre of the Old London Road where dancers and performers will be ready to entertain visitors.

Special guests include Monty Python's Carol Cleveland who will be opening the fayre at 11am and BBC Radio Sussex's Guy Lloyd who be the MC for the day.

Profits made will go to the Patcham Community Association and will also be distributed to other charities.
